The biggest problem I had with this film was that the action sequences
were very flat. One of the great things Cameron does is keep the action
sequences clear. You always know where everybody is and what they're
reacting to. Mostow was much messier.

I want to go back and look at the earlier Terminators again, because I
also feel that Cameron is much better at keeping the big action moments
in the frame, whereas Mostow used cuts a lot--easier to cheat, of
course.

The biggest writing issue for me was John's character arc. I can ignore
the timeline problems, but at the end they really wanted to make this
movie be about John's decision to accept his "destiny"--but they didn't
make a big enough deal of him being unwilling to do that earlier in the
film. He wasn't a reluctant enough hero for that ending to be
emotionally satisfying.

Also, what did Claire Danes' dad know about his destiny? Why does he
send them to the fallout shelter with that particular lie? It's awefully
convenient, isn't it? I'm not sure why he would say, "Go there to shut
it down" rather than "you can't shut it down, go there to live."
