I saw a study that claimed that there are more Welsh surnames used by back
Americans than any other. There are a good deal of Irish and Scottish
names
used by blacks. It is believed this is because Welsh people got along with
all type of folk because they to were persecuted by the English so knew
what it was like. In fact belive it or not in Britain to this day the
English call the Welsh “niggers” as a derogatory term. There is a famous
story about a slave who jumped ****p in Wales off an American ****p and
lived in Wales the rest of his life. He was the only black man in Wales
for decades and became quite a celebrity. The Welsh refused to give him
back to the ****ps captain and just paid him off and set the man free.
Yes Jones is probably the largest family name in Wales. Its like Kim in
Korea or Chong in China.
To tell you the truth though most white folks in the US don’t know that
their names identify their particular white group, Irish ,Welsh ect and if
they do its just a novelty to most.
