Nestled among the mountains in the north, High Reaches Weyr remains an
impressive locale still held in high esteem, even in the turns where
Thread no longer falls. Blizzards rage in the winters; the summers are
short-lived. The caverns are always warm and open to visitors, the
weyrfolk friendly and the food, generally quite good. But the Weyr's
quality of life is being pulled into the spotlight by disgruntled
holders and weyrfolk alike. With not one but two Holds suffering
shortages of supplies through the winter and disappearances that have
occurred far too frequently despite the blizzards, holders are
demanding that the Weyr do something to restore their supplies - and
quickly. Sending supplies to them, however, would bring a slight
shortage into the Weyr's caverns, caverns where weyrfolk are beginning
to re****t small items as 'lost' or 'missing' far more often than
simple misplacings. As suspicion begins to cloud the region, all
incoming visitors are subject to search by the guards and policing
wing of High Reaches, even as the people begin to look at one another
with mistrust.
Amidst the growing unrest, the eyes of the dragonhealers are carefully
trained on their youngest gold, who, they claim, ought to be
approaching her maiden flight at nearly two and a half turns. With the
hope of eggs eventually being on the sands, it's a promising outlook
for the economy, but with the amount of new faces that will surely
have to enter on grounds of viewing the clutch - not to mention
candidates - security will have to be tightened.
