All I want to say is that Rod Serling died way too young. He was on to
something about reality...other dimensions...a great imagination.
Brilliant man. R.I.P. Oh...I tried to visit on Mother's Day, but
Eternal Light Cemetery keeps moving the markers so you can't find the
stone again when you come back. This time, the marker was on the
"exit" road leading out of the cemetery. I kid you not. They move the
markers. It's like musical chairs, except it's musical markers. That
"Garden of Jacob" marker has been all over the large plot in the past
20 years. The grave stays in the same place, but the markers are moved
around as the cemetary expands. They're a playful bunch at Eternal
Light, but, to me, it's just another example of Floridian ingenuity.
I leaped out of my car at the sight of the marker, but another car
pulled up and the driver honked to get out of the place and I was
blocking the exit road. So I waved in the direction of my parents's
shared stone, and left. Such is life. Everything ends in a punchline.
Many's the time my mother, sister and I tried to find my father's
stone, but to no avail. I'm sure there's some Floridian logic at work,
but I'm from New York. I never watched Night Gallery, just Twilight
Zone. They ought to rename the cemetary Twilight Zone.
