Some costumed  groups were invited to attend in Victorian and/or
Steampunk
clothing.

Earlier that day I was nearby in Mountain View at Moffatt Field,
leading
the San Mateo Elks Concert Band at an event held for troops returning
from Iraq and Afghanistan. We played next to a stage at the end of the
park where virtually nobody was at the time. But that's OK, because
most
activity was around another area with tables of people providing
information about available education, health, and financial benefits
and aid for the veterans. I'm glad to see the main purpose of the day
was being fulfilled.
