And consider this as well: if it weren't for TV, the general public 
wouldn't have seen, for example, the conscience-shocking images of their 
fellow citizens being attacked with fire hoses & police dogs in 
Birmingham. There would have been pictures, but I doubt that still 
images in newspapers would have had nearly as powerful an impact. Also, 
think of the great strides gays & lesbians have made in this country, in 
terms of acceptance, thanks -- at least in part -- to the medium of 
television.
