So maybe you should stop worrying about those few extra pounds you are
packing around.
They are not likely to hasten your premature demise or cause other serious
problems after all, according to a new study by the federal Center for
Disease Control and Prevention.
That does not mean you should pig out on the left-over Halloween candy or
gorge yourself on holiday feasts.
All of the earlier warnings you have heard about the risks of heart
disease,
diabetes, kidney disease, certain cancers and other serious health
problems
still apply for people considered obese - those with a body mass index of
30
or higher.
But for people with a body-mass index of 25 to 30 - those carrying 15, 20,
or 25 pounds more than what health authorities have said is the ideal
weight
for their height = the risks of serious health problems aren't as evident,
according to the study.
The study is a follow-up to one conducted two years ago, which raised the
possibility that the number of deaths attributed to people being
overweight
may have been overstated.
In fact, being a little overweight may actually make you less likely to
die
from certain health problems - including prieumonia, emphysema, injuries
and
various infections - so the study said, earlier this week.
Of course, weight is not the only indicator of health.
Regular exercise remains a critical part of a healthy lifestyle,
especially
if you are a little bit overweight, or so the health authorities would
have
us all believe.
Thus maintaining a healthy and varied diet with lots of fruits and
vegetables is just as equally im****tant.
Even so, it is refre****ng to know that you do not have to try and maintain
the body of a super model, what the hell is a size zero anyway?
Nor do you have to give up all your favorite tasty foods in order to
protect
your health.
