and the WORD for today is

by "needles" <briticanj@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Aug 6, 2007 at 10:54 AM

The word for today is *HIRAETH* it is a Welsh-Gaelic word that defies
adequate translation into the English language, but is perhaps best
described as "longing".
CUR, knows this as a song of the same name.
The song asks, "Tell me, you men of learning, of what fabric is *Hiraeth*

made from? From what yarn is it spun that never wears and never fades?"
Cur likes (!) to sing this song as a kind of melancholy lullaby.
In either English or Welsh-Gaelic.
Which he learned from his late father and both grandfathers.
It does have a bitter-sweet refrain all of its own.
