The cynical side of me might see this as a grub for the Do-Re-Mi.
On the other hand, with the way that DVDs are now such a common companion
to
CD Releases,
I can see how/why they might want to go this route with Costello's
catalogue.
I mean, so far, just about all of Bowie's CDs (at least from SPACE ODDITY
up
to SCARY MONSTERS) have been given three releases on CD (RCA, Ryko,
Virgin).
His other relesases...save for his last two albums of this
decade.(no..even
those came out later in 5.1 mixes)..have been given at least two CD
releases
on different labels.
I know that...as one who loves the cat's music (Bowie's that is...I like
Costello's well enough, but not enough to buy his stuff for the 3rd or 4th
time)...I'd welcome buying these things all over again if they were to
include DVDs of concerts from these stages of his career.
On the other hand, I know I'd also be feeling a bit like a rube being
****lled for buying the same CD for the 3rd or 4th time...
