<sigh> I know what it means, both by your definition (lumping all salaries
together) and mine (comparing comparable jobs).

I don't whine, I'm not living in a fantasy world, I have been "held back"
from promotional op****tunities and I have been paid less (sometimes
significantly less) than men doing the same or lower level jobs than I was
doing--for employers who flat out told me that because I didn't have a
family to sup****t, it was more im****tant to promote the men and pay them
more. No, I didn't stick long around after hearing that.
