Hi group,
Just got back into playing FFE again, after the old laptop I used to
play it on got so glitchy it crashed more often than the 1st release
of FE2, had a determined go at getting it to run in dosbox at first,
but was cra****ng out with errors about trying to access memory it
didn't have permission for or something. Anyhoo, searching the web for
info on that found me JJFFE which I've had working and have been
playing. Reading the elite sites made me thirst, even "jones" to try
the high res GLFFE, which I then realised was not gonna work, got no
DX9 hardware sup****t on the machine I was trying it on, (AMD Tbred @[EMAIL PROTECTED]
512MB DDR, GeForce TI4200, Win 98SE) So this morning I found
Nic's mod, installed it, and it ran!!
I was delighted for about 10 minutes... then discovered.... the ctrl
and ****ft keys aren't captured very well... in fact, the ****ft keys
doesn't work to reduce set speed, it works to use the retro thruster
in engines off, but not in set speed mode... can't slow down :-( The
ctrl key is captured only for the escape capsule as far as I can
discover, can't ctrl-enter to full screen
I was seeming to have other issues with dropped keypresses and dropped
mouse clicks. Tab to change engine modes only works s****adically.
In short, although it looks GREAT! it's unplayable at the moment :-(
Also a strange thing with the cursor, running in windowed mode,
sometimes left clicking makes it jump to the edge of the screen,
resulting in going off the window unexpectedly. Annoying as heck in
attempted combat that was.
Not entirely sure whose bugs these are, Nic's, kolijoco's, JJ's or
Bill Gates' (I'm running win 98SE)
Any ideas for easing these issues would be good, maybe I can edit the
cfg with some magic words???
Thanks muchly to Nic, kolijoco , and JJ for the code transfusions to
keep this game alive, and also of course to his Imperial Braben-ness,
Defender of the Truth, Chevalier of Justice, Rod of Might, Fount of
Mercy, and Upholder of the Forty-Two Unbreakable Laws, for fruiting
it from his loins in the first place.
Thanks for any wit* and wisdom . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
(*integer quantities always preferred ;-) )
