This is one of those brilliant cocepts that was in older games just to add
a 
bit of interest although it fulfilled little in the game itself. Its like 
having the throne room in Civilisation or the titles in Medieval Total War

or medals in the older flight sims etc. They did nothing but just add a
bit 
of amusement, thought, intrigue call it what you will. But it was always a

nice touch to see. You never get that these days in games, everything in
new 
games has a purpose, everything you know you will need at some point, 
everything is only there if absolutely necessary becuase it requires 
programming time and therefore money in a greedy society where suits rule 
computer gaming. This is one reason why modern games are so bloody boring 
and soulless, and why I dont buy many of them at all.
