Beware the belsammael who stalks alt.fan.eddings thus:

BtS. Because I like it.

> 2. Which Non-Eddings book would you recommend, and why?

These are books you should read:

Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden series. Especially if you didn't like the TV
show.

Right now I'm heading though Steven Erikson's fantasy epic, which is the
diametric opposite of Eddings in every possible way while remaining
fantasy. They're massive, complex plots with multiple overarching
storylines an underarching plotlines that - shock horror - ACTUALLY GET
COMPLETED AT THE END OF THE BOOK THEY STARTED IN!! They're good, they're
well written, and you need to pay attention.

The Dresden books are fun, fairly light and also goo.

Toast.

Sorry, I refuse to work on Christmas Eve.

> 5. Describe the plot of Harry Potter 8 in a short synopsis.

It's twenty five years later, and Harry Potter's kids are just getting out
of
Hogwarts, heading into a life of office-based misery as they work in
cubicles in the Ministry of Magic. But they've taken a few pals with
them! Hagrid's son is coming as the office janitor, be careful of the
boiler! And expect zany hijinks from the next generation of the Weasely
twins, as well as know-it-all line manager Siobian Granger, continuing
in the line of "not like it's spelt" names! But, deep in the basement
department, the son of Tom Riddle is waiting for a chance to fire the
lot of them, as head of HR.

Voldemort's back, and this time it's personnel!!

Yours in total sincerity
