Oh, hell, I don't even bear KA any grudge. He's been a writing hack for
years, doing SW novels and everything else. Everyone deserves to eat, and
if he could earn bigger bucks doing a derivative copyright Dune book,
rather
than a derivative copyright SW book, who can blame him?
BUT, that hardly excuses BH; I mean, riding one's father's coattails is
one
thing...riding them in such a blatantly self-aggrandizing way, and then
dimini****ng your father's legacy in such a derisive fa****on...well, that
is
JUST hellspawn-ish. The really tawdry part is that it's likely that a
top-notch SF writer might, just MIGHT, have been able to craft a decent
series of novels to "flesh out" (couldn't resist a ghola pun) some of the
Duniverse..but now that possibility is utterly quashed by this pabulum
being
peddled to the Ignoscenti.
I've been skimming the "threads" around here...seeing some of what has
been
written about the prequels, the sequels, and all the other trash is just
brain-bending. I stopped reading them at that Star Trek-rip-off plotline
with the invisible ****p in the belly of the Navigator ****p. I think - and
this is a good, what, 8 years ago? - that drivel was the second book,
although it might have been the first. Don't know, and admit I don't
care.
And what do you MEAN you are flattered I remembered? How's YOUR "K"
doing?
(See, that gingko must be working). I responded to your initial "I'm
back"
post somewhere around here...taking due umbrage at the "old gal" comment.
:-)
Warmest regards,
Hitch
