It looks like publishers are starting to re-issue FH's older books
more and more, and I picked up a new printing of Hellstrom's Hive the
other day. Not a bad read, although not as deep at FH goes with the
Dune books. It's set in a communist-fear-era United States, the 60s it
seems, and is based on a faux-documentary movie. There are elements of
describing the human condition in different situations, which is what
FH appears to like to write about (say, under the influence of a
geriatric drug, or the control of an omnipotent voidship, etc). In
this case, he creates tens of thousands of humans living in a hive-
like manner.
Anyone else give it a read? I thought that the ending was a tad
abrupt, and didn't close much out.
