In "Charlie's Angels", Drew Barrymore uses her s-e-x appeal to
distract a male
chauffeur while undercover. She giggles as she notices her top has
come undone; but leaves a lasting impression with the driver by giving
his steering wheel a luscious, intimate kiss. It's a scene, which
culminates in her licking the driver's steering wheel, designed to
deliver steam heat—and it does
exactly that.
Thin and voluptuous, the Angels use
s-e-x (or the promise of it) to get what they want. Dylan (Barrymore),
for
example, wears a jumpsuit with neckline that plunges to the curvature
of her breasts in order to distract the driver while Alex (Lucy Liu)
plants a camera on his car.
Barrymore is her usual charming self. She manages to be cherubic and
dazzling at once, especially when, zipped only halfway into one of
those skintight motor-speedway outfits, she sweet-talks the nervous

If the past few months are any guide, much of the chatter this Academy
Awards season might have less to do with Oscar and more to do with
political activism. Especially the chatter on talk radio. "I want to
figure out a way to hurt these people," Dennis Prager said about the
parade of liberal actors that have been speaking against the Bush
administration. "God knows, not physically," he added. "It's now a
weekly event that someone in Hollywood says something foolish -- truly
foolish -- about America," he said. Prager went on about how such
Hollywood anti-Americanism detracts from his ability to enjoy movies.
Prager might not know it, but he's not alone. According to a poll in
The Hollywood Re****ter, one of the two primary entertainment industry
trade papers, 44 percent of Americans say they might not pay to see a
movie that stars a politically active celebrity whom they disagree
with. The talk-radio circuit even has pet names for Hollywood's
peaceniks. Oliver North calls them the "Susan Sarandon Left," while
Michael Savage delights in the term "Hollywood Idiot." They're simply
suggesting that, "If you're going to boycott America, please don't
boycott my movie," Savage says. And it's not just the hosts. A caller
to Michael Medved's radio show on Oscar-nomination day advocated
boycotting the Academy Awards broadcast. "I would love to somehow
punish Hollywood," the caller said. If that poll from The Hollywood
Re****ter is accurate, many Americans are already engaging in a boycott
of sorts, choosing to see movies that don't star Gere, Hoffman,
Baldwin, Jessica Lange, Sean Penn, Woody Harrelson, Martin Sheen and
too many more to mention who have been publicly ba****ng America since
the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Maybe, for the sake of their
all-im****tant box office "take," it's time the Hollywood Left stop
talking and start listening to talk radio.

Antonio Banderas has achieved musical star status in his role as Guido
Contini in the current revival of Nine. Many folks heard him sing in
the movie Evita opposite Madonna, but hearing him live onstage in Nine
reveals his great vocal talent. In his Broadway debut, Banderas offers
a powerfully nuanced vocal performance. He has been nominated for a
Tony for best actor in a musical. His co-star, Jane Krakowski, best
known for her role as Elaine in the TV show Ally McBeal, is seriously
seductive as Guido's mistress, Carla. Her descent from above the
stage, artfully wrapped in a satin sheet, is a showstopper as she
croons A Call from the Vatican. She's a Tony nominee for best featured
actress in a musical. Krakowski's earlier musicals, before Ally McBeal
fame, included Once Upon a Mattress, Company, Grand Hotel and
Starlight Express. At the 2000 Tony Awards, actors Rosie O'Donnell,
Megan Mullally of Will &; Grace, Jesse L. Martin of Law and Order and
Krakowski performed a spoofy number, A Tony Opening, with the basic
message, ``We'll bet you didn't know we've sung on Broadway.''
O'Donnell was a replacement for the Cat in the Hat in the musical
Seussical and also played Rizzo in the revival of Grease. Mullally,
who plays the comical Karen in Will &; Grace, appeared in the revivals
of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Grease. Before
Law and Order fame, Martin -- who has a beautifully mellow bass voice
-- originated the role of Tom Collins in the Broadway musical Rent.

Reactivating Kathleen McClellan
In the "Sliders" episode entitled "State of the ART", Kathleen played
dual roles. One was the part of Shauna, who was a duplicate of the
late wife of the special guest villain in the form of a wheelchair
