To a degree, yes she was a pest.
but Doc Savage adventures often reminded me of Our Gang comedies or
what we did when we were ten years old.
At that age, I would get to together with my best friends, the guys
and we would
play football. baseball, pirates or cowboys and indians, etc. The
rough stuff
while the girls had cooties and played with dolls, gossiped or talked
about clothes etc.
Pat is the tagalong bratty kid sister that wants to play the boys
game, join our club,
who couldn't throw or catch a ball or always fell behind when we went
hi speed bike riding.
Or worse of all, she could keep up or do the stuff better than the
guys.
Of course some things change soon after ;-)
