Conde Nast has taken some steps towards returning Doc Savage to the
public eye. Remember back in December of 2006 when a rumor hit of a
Sam Raimi movie featuring multiple Street & Smith pulp characters [IGN
was the first up with the rumor]? A week after the rumor hit, it was
confirmed that Sam Raimi did have the rights to The Shadow and was
working [with Sony] on a new film.
Well, the same day the rumor hit [but before the movie was confirmed]
Harry Knowles of AICN commented on the rumor. And relayed a piece of
information that I have not seen mentioned anywhere since.
His full comments can be read here: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30905
But perhaps the most interesting thing were his fourth paragraph and
the last paragraph.
QUOTE ========================================================
....
In the last year or so - I've heard that Raimi has been taking
meetings with various directors to discuss a possible DOC SAVAGE film.
But closer to home, I've heard that Raimi had found a writer for his
THE SHADOW movie, but that no commitments were in hand, as of yet.
....
Like I said. I know for a fact that THE SHADOW and DOC SAVAGE are
separate projects that were being developed as separate projects at
least 4 months ago. I'll continue to knock on Raimi's door to get to
the truth, but at this point the only one that knows for sure, is his
Shadow...
END QUOTE ====================================================
I feel certain that Raimi has continued work on the Doc Savage movie.
Hopefully it goes into full production soon.
