OK, well, maybe DOC doesn't actually meet the Terminator. But i did
see Long Tom meet Sara Conner.
My wife got the BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (COMPLETE FIRST SEASON), and
there's gorgeous Linda Hamilton bopping around and below late 1980s
New York City (a pre-Rudy hellhole, with only primitive computers to
move the plot forward, but a total lack of cell phones to maximize
suspence), and there's Paul Gleason (Long Tom from the DOC SAVAGE
movie ) in a bad guy turn as a crooked charity organizer trying to off
a rich old lady. He never actually has to face the Beast; in fact, he
even avoids oone of linda's signature "knee to the groin" moves. but
his henchmen more than pay the price.
The "Beast" is kind of the anti-DOC, or at least DOC in a funhouse
mirror. Raised from childhood to be smart and do good, he lives deep
underneath the city rather than above it. Big and strong, but let's
face it, he's a "beast", and most women don't swoon like they do when
DOC walks into a room. DOC has a lab; the Beast has a library of old
books. DOC has the trilling thing; the Beast growls. DOC is aided by
five experts in major firelds; the Beast by a rather random collection
of followers with limited skill sets. DOC is high tech; the Beast is
Morse code banged on a pipe low tech. DOC is ruled by intellect; the
Beast by emotion.
