Back in Dec. 2006 IGN Movies re****ted a RUMOR that Sam Raimi had
picked up movie rights for multiple Street & Smith pulp characters and
was working on a 'team-up' movie.

A week later official news came along through multiple movie news
sites [including Variety and The Hollywood Re****ter] that seemingly
clarified the earlier rumor. Specifially, Sam Raimi had picked up the
movie rights for the Shadow and was working on a movie based on the
character. [Sam Raimi has the movie rights, he's just working with
Sony to make the movie]

Now, it kinda got lost in the shuffle of news about a new Shadow
movie - but Harry Knowles commented on IGN's rumor on Dec. 6th [the
same day IGN posted it]. In his comments, Knowles noted his surprise
at the "team-up" movie concept. Here's what Knowles said at the end
of his comments.

Like I said. I know for a fact that THE SHADOW and DOC SAVAGE are
separate projects that were being developed as separate projects at
least 4 months ago. I'll continue to knock on Raimi's door to get to
the truth, but at this point the only one that knows for sure, is his
Shadow...

Now, while we have not heard much more about THE SHADOW, we do know
that it is progressing as just a movie about The Shadow. I've not
came across anything else about Raimi's Doc Savage movie since Harry
Knowle's comments last year. I can't imagine Raimi just giving up on
the Doc Savage movie, there's just too much greatness there - so
either the Doc Savage movie is coming along slower or Raimi has
managed to keep it well under wraps.
It'd be cool to see [good/great] movies based on Doc Savage and The
Shadow come out the same year. Sony could place one in the beginning
of summer and the other somewhere in the latter half [so as not to
compete with each other].
