>From 1940, this one really moves along, even with the dslow opening.
Like many a DOC, this one has that Missouri connection. A strange
plane lands in a Missouri famrer's field. the pilot goes into st.
louis to sell some beautiful furs. They attract attention, then more
attention, and DOC is soon called for, and shortly thereafter he and
the guys are off to a "lost world" deep inside our world.
Fair enough. Much better handled than, say, MURDER MELODY. There's a
lost world with all manner of prehistoric beasts, including two
sepearate races of people. The plot keeps going, and while the
science gets silly, it is never wretched. At the end, DOC announces
that he's keeping this lost world a secret from the world at large.
Monk let's off an opinion that this might be a place he'd retire to --
come back and hunt T. Rex rather than sit home and collect social
security -- of course, by this time, they all must have been pushing
50 real hard.
The Bantam ediion had DOC threateneing a bunch of giant weasels with a
club
