Well, it could always go to prime time, alongside the likes of InuYasha,
which also has a myriad of ongoing, interconnected plots (the
Kagome/InuYasha/Kikyo triangle, the InuYasha/Sesshoumaru feud, the Jewel
Shard Quest, Naraku's manipulations. . .), and an impressive amount of
violence and action.

Well, aside from InuYasha, there's a lot of animé that's adult-oriented
(by
NorAm standards, at least) without resorting to excessive blood & ***
(InuYasha has a bit of blood, and a few [sorta] ****/topless scenes [all
of
which omit any "offensive" detail]). There's Gundam_Seed and
Witch_Hunter_Robin here in Canada, many more in the US.
There's also some kid stuff that's pretty cool. Code_Lyoko just started
here, but it looks promising (the first ep makes it clear there's a great
deal of background/worldbuilding being done; hopefully it'll deliver
cohesively). You should see if anyone's playing Cardcaptors (a.k.a.
Cardcaptor_Sakura) in your area; it's like "Buffy" for pre-teens.
Megaman_NT_Warrior ("Megaman.exe") has ongoing plots, but they're a
one-after-another thing, not particularly cohesive. Knights_of_the_Zodiac
("Saint_Seiya") plays during "kids are watching" timeslots, and has an
ongoing plot, but avoids censuring by having the characters bleed Gatorade
(don't know if the blood has been recoloured or if it was like that in the
original).
In American cartoons, there's Justice_League_Unlimited, of which I've only
seen one episode, so I can't tell you about ongoing plots. The previous
Justice_League series had numerous two- or three-parters. And the new TMNT
series (and He-Man rocked for as long as it aired :'( ). Aside from that,
there's not much.
Basically, I think it comes down to North America's marginalizing attitude
toward "cartoons" as being something that only exists to get kids to watch
TV for a half-hour or so. Gargoyles (and JLU, and TMNT, and JCA, for that
matter) lean more toward the Asian idea of animé being an art form that
can
be appreciated by older kids, and even adults.

You're accusing Valmont, Shendu, Tarakudo, and the Anti-Uncle of having
deeper personalities than Xanatos, Demona, the Hunters, and Macbeth? Or
did
you mean Finn, Ratso, and Chow? :p

Plus, it's a Jackie-Chan-endorsed thing; he prefers lighthearted comedy.

Uncle would probably be able to tell the difference between a gargoyle and
an oni (contextually, the oni would have to be of the fay; just because of
their magical skills). He'd probably be up on gargoyle culture too, so
he'd
know not to attack them. The others, OTOH, would probably panic.
I'd think Section 13 would've bumped up against either the Illuminati or
Xanatos Enterprises (or Nightstone Unlimited, for that matter), but the
two
universes aren't blatantly incompatable. Xanatos would definitely have
looked into anything as powerful as the Shendu Talismans. Who knows,
Xanatos
might even be sponsoring Section 13 on the sly. . .
It would be fun to see Tohru and Broadway squaring off (either in a fight,
or in an "Iron Chef" competition ;) ).
