The first half of the movie was pretty good, but they deviated during
the second half.  There were some good things about the movie,
particularly the terrific John Berry score (which was slightly
reminescent to Thunderball) and the casting of Jason Robards as
Sandecker.  I would have preferred the late Richard Jordan had not
grown a beard in order to play Pitt, and the modelwork they used for
the special effects looks awfully cheesy these days.  I would love to
see them remake this movie and follow the book; due to the size and
scope of the book they could do it as a miniseries.
