Hey folks,
Thought I'd finally check out some Cussler/Dirk Pitt newsgroups, and
I've started here, since I have only read the Dirk Pitt novels so far.
I've read about six of the books and plan on working my way through all
of them gradually. This is the first modern series I've latched onto in
a long time, and even after just a few of the books, I feel like the
characters are old friends, and I always look forward to my next
Cussler book on deck (no pun intended).
I saw Sahara the movie without having read the book yet, and must say
that while I agree with other posts about actors being miscast
(especially Al), the film certainly captured the essence of the
books... the daring, adventure and FUN.... and the sheer escapism. I'm
a big fan of the Fleming (and some other) Bond books and films, and
must say that Sahara was a decent effort in this genre (though I have
no point of reference - the Sahara novel - to compare it to). I'll read
it eventually. How do you folks here rate the book?
The one book that I know I really must read soon is Raise the Titanic!
The most famous of them all (since I recall the movie being released
way back when, but never saw it), isn't it? What's the concensus here
about RtT?
