I saw Sahara today. I wasn't impressed.
Dirk wasn't as described in the books, basic appearance or behavior. Al
was
definitly wrong. He didn't come across as intelligent, like he is in the
books, or for that matter, as anyone you would really want working on
anythng that was complicated. Rudi in the books is *not* a timid hesitant
type who lacks any evidence of self-confidence, and Sandecker was not
anywhere near being the tough bucker-of-the-system that he is in the
books.
As for the storyline, I have to wonder if it even made any sense to
someone
who had not read the book and knew the gist of the story. I'm not
surprised
Cussler is sueing. The movie only vaguely told the story and I certainly
wouldn't buy the book after seeing the movie.
Did the scriptwriter even read the book, or did he just get a summery of
the
story to go over? I have to really wonder.
It could have been worth seeing if they had made it a serious movie and
had
the actors ****tray the books characters instead of the characters they
did.
I give it half a star.
