Hi all,
Recently finished "Black Wind" after finally finding it in a bookshop.
Thought the plot was up to the usual Cussler standard, although it does
contain elements of older stories (think Vixen 03 with rockets).
Not sure about the villains in this one. They didn't seem to be of the
usual calibre, I thought a lot of time was spent describing what a piece
of work that Tongju guy was, but he didn't really seem to do anything
(now Foss Gly was a REAL villain ;)
I cringed a little when I read the introduction of Jack Dahlgren. It
seemed a little to convienient for Pitt Jr to have a Giordino equivalent
ready made. I'm glad he wasn't in it that much.
And what happened to Sandecker? He's been reduced to little more than a
walk on part as Vice President, with Rudi Gunn apparently running NUMA.
I expected that Pitt Sr would have the equivalent role of Sandecker in
previous novels, but it seems not.
Overall, I still enjoyed it but it seems quite removed from the NUMA
world we all knew. I think I'll get used to it, it's just a bit strange.
Any thoughts anyone...?
Danny.
