They're both certainly a departure from the usual style: the intricacy
and international intrigue plots of the 80s (Raise the Titanic! and Deep
Six, for example), followed by the megalomaniac thwarting,
globe-trotting epics of the 90s (Sahara, Inca Gold, Flood Tide et al).
The last two definately mark a wind-down in Cusslers style, but then
what else can we expect?
I'm certainly saddened by the ending of Odyssey, but I'm not
particularly surprised by it. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't
another Pitt adventure again, but we'll have to wait and see.
