actually a few authors regularly contribute to 
Usenet...aside from Terry, Tom Holt also comes 
immediately to mind...and once I mentioned in a post that 
I was having difficulty finding a particular Lois 
McMaster Bujold book and got an email from the author 
suggesting a place to get a copy from
