If there's one thing I liked about the first season of Digimon, it's
that the American names of most of the main human characters were just
shortened versions of their Japanese names rather than something
completely different, which I thought was clever. Not only that, but in
the first episode their Japanese names are displayed in full along with
their American nicknames.
