"Unctuous"? Hardly.

I said what I believe and I know I'm not lying because, before
either of them got political, I liked Maher and disliked Miller.
I used to dislike Miller for his show-offy obscure cultural references,
his hair flips, and his smugness. Nowadays he's turned down
the esoterica (perhaps he's trying to dumb down his schtick
for his new target audience :-)) but he's added this partisan
bias that really does annoy me. Not only because he's pro-GOP
and I'm not but because I consider it outrageous that a comedian
would choose his targets based on their politics. Not only is
it skewed but it's also wasteful. There's comic gold in the Bush
administration. If you don't believe me watch the Daily Show
for proof.

I admit that I'm politically biased but I'm not incapable of laughing
at Democrats. Dana Carvey did a hysterically funny impression
of Clinton on his old prime time comedy show on ABC (this
short-running show was hated by critics but loved by me).

And I still insist that Maher's independent POV is much more
interesting and entertaining than Miller's partisan talking-points
mixed with jokes approach.
