Any original Miller fans still with him?

by eligain@[EMAIL PROTECTED] (elliot gainway) Nov 27, 2003 at 05:35 PM

I have been a huge Dennis Miller fan ever since the first time I saw
him in the early eighties. I stumbled upon him at a comedy club in
Denver. I then watched him on star search and followed his career from
appearances on Letterman and Carson to his great run on SNL. I was
thrilled when he got his own talk show and disapointed when it was
cancelled. When he went to HBO I followed and taped every episode.
When he went to MNF I was there watching MNF for the first time in
many years.......... Then something happened to Dennis! He turned into
an old lady! He became a foul mouthed Rush Limbaugh. He used to be an
equal opportunity offender but now he only goes after liberals, how
boring. I saw him in person in 1986 with Robin Williams, Louie
Anderson and Rosanne Barr. One of Dennis's main targets that night was
Reagan but he also equally went after democrat targets. Now he seems
to have become a mouthpiece for the right. I have went from being one
of his biggest fans to not being able to stand the sight of him. His
appearances on Leno show him not as the perrenially hip observer of
the world but as a stoggy old coot who rails against them dirty
hippys. My politics have not changed since I first saw Miller to now.
In fact I hate politics and find discussing it boring. So it must be
Miller who changed and left me behind.
Is there any of his old, original fans still with him or are all of
you who still find him funny new fans who have dicovered him only
since he became a right wing reactinary.

PS- This kind of reminds me of people that think Jay Leno is so funny
now, who only know him from The Tonight Show. Anybody who has been a
fan of Leno's since the 70's and his apearances on Late Night With
David Letterman know that Leno has become a pale shadow of how funny
he used to be.
