TURNING THE INTERVIEW TABLES: David Duchovny shared the stage
with his Scottish pal Craig Ferguson at the Fine Arts Theatre
on Tuesday night to discuss Ferguson's new book, "Between the
Bridge and the River." But, during the "Conversation With"
event sponsored by Writers Bloc, Duchovny revealed that the
two share more than the stage.

"We also share a woman," the "X-Files" hunk told an intrigued
audience.

After a long pause, Duchovny added: "Our manager."

"Oh, that it were Tea Leoni," mused Ferguson, alluding to
Duchovny's actress wife.

The friend****p between the two began after Duchovny was
Ferguson's first guest on his CBS talk show, "The Late Late
Show," in January 2005. The fact that Duchovny is part Scot
and studied literature at Yale made him a good choice to
interview the Glasgow-born actor/director/comedian/musician,
whose debut novel features cameos by Socrates and Carl Jung.

The book, which chronicles the misadventures of two Scottish
friends and two Southern brothers, skewers show biz,
serial killers and organized religion while exploring love,
greed, hope, revenge and redemption.

"I got the idea a few years ago, after the Cannes Film
Festival," said Ferguson. "At first, it was just about
a Scotsman who got drunk and then came to America.
The first line was, 'Fraser had a problem."'

Duchovny was provocative, but the funniest question came
from a young man wearing a backward baseball cap: "I have a
master's degree in literature. Can you give me some tips on
getting into show business so I can get my work published?"

"First, get your hat on the right way," Ferguson dead-panned.

Then he got serious. "I understand your frustration.
But the only thing that counts is authenticity.
If you have that, then keep going."

Ferguson agreed that his successful talk show does help his
literary career. "Look, I get to be interviewed by David
Duchovny, who's more famous than me!"
