I just found out about this, Dovovan's cover of David Bowir's ''When
You Rock and Roll With Me'', never knew it existed, although I;ve
always like the Bowie original... and not much on the internet about
it, either. A 1974 or '75 single, aparently never collected onto an
album... some of what little I have found on this very interesting
item - Anyon out there with more info, I for one would love to know
more... looks like a real rarity...

Again, haven't heard it myself, but I'm told it was a single from
around
'74 (and therefore not very long after the Bowie version appeared)
when
Donovan was attempting one of his comebacks (he's in the middle of
another
en ce moment. I saw him on Jools Holland a week or two back). I'm not
sure
whether Rock 'n' Roll With Me was an A or B side.

''...This a 1974 Italian release on the Epic label by Donovan of

Bowie's "(When you)Rock and Roll With Me" from his "Diamond Dogs"
release. This wasn't issued in the UK, in fact even Bowie's version
wasn't (we got "Knock on Wood" instead!) Better known for his
whymsicaly 60's songs like "Mellow Yellow" and "Jenifer Juniper",
obviously saw the excellence of this Bowie song and decided to
release
it himself (okay i'm bias but this track is one of all-time Bowie
favourites!) The B-side is "The Divine Daze of Deathless Delight"
(wha?) Both tracks produced by Andrew Oldham... Cat no: EPC 2661
