What little detail is missing from these news articles?

DETROIT (AP) - Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, a one-time rising star and
Detroit's youngest elected leader, was charged Monday with perjury
and other counts after ***ually explicit text messages
contradicted his sworn denials of an affair with a top aide.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy also charged the popular yet
polarizing 37-year-old mayor with obstruction of justice and
misconduct in office. [...]
Perjury is a felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. But
for Kilpatrick, a conviction also would mean his immediate
expulsion from office. The Detroit City Charter calls for any
elected official convicted of a felony while in office to be
removed.

DETROIT -- Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was charged Monday with eight
felonies stemming from a text message scandal that has engulfed
his administration and the city he serves.
The charges were the latest and most severe blow to the
charismatic but scandal-plagued politician, a man who rode into
office in 2002 as the youngest mayor in Detroit history and is now
the only Detroit mayor to face criminal charges while still in
office.

Which political party does Kilpatrick represent? Curiously,
it is not mentioned in the many articles about him. Even his
hometown papers oddly fail to include this detail.

NEW YORK (AP) -- New York's newly minted governor says he had

The admission comes a day after Gov. David Paterson was
inaugurated and disclosed at least one extramarital affair to
re****ters.

Which political party does Paterson represent? Curiously,
it is not mentioned in the many articles about him. Even NY-based
media somehow manage to omit this detail.
No doubt these omissions are simply oversight, given that
every Republican charged with anything is immediately
identified as such. It could not be that the media are in the
proverbial tank for their party's representatives... could it?
