The turnaround in the public perception of the war in Iraq in the
past year or so has been stunning. It's still not a particularly
popular war but it's no longer the insurmountable albatross that
it was back then.

As proof, McCain has been a very reliable sup****ter of the war.
And he's doing very well in polls against both of the potential
Dem candidates who both regularly condemn the war. At least at
the moment.

Perhaps the Dems are beginning to understand that their goal of
an all out humiliating retreat from Iraq will be bad. And pu****ng
the idea is bad for their public perception.

And perhaps Repubs will begin to understand that occupying
Iraq for many decades and acting as their unwanted nanny is
not the solution either.

I hope the RNC runs TV ads showing the similarity between what
the Dem candidates are saying with what bin Laden and his
goons are saying. They can show the screen split into two sides,
one showing Toots or Battleax saying how we need to run from
Iraq as beaten dogs, and on the other side of the screen showing
OBL saying al Qaeda will be glorious victors if America leaves
Iraq like running dogs.
