Curiously enough, I am nearly 50. So, almost thirty in '84 was just about
right
to fit into the mod scene. Actually, I went dancing a lot at the places
that
were still stuck in the SNF disco scene, but that just made it more
colorful and
complicated. I know, I know, Cyndi is supposed to have been a "young
girl's
favorite", and she was. But she was charming, and rather cute and amusing.
It
was camp, it was funny. Not just her, but early Madonna (that vampy "Lucky
Star"
stuff), Tears for Fears, Thompson Twins, Berlin, Duran Duran, Eurythmics,
Boy
George, "Thriller" Michael when he was still normalish and handsome,
Prince
(another one who still looks good at 40-something), Weird Al (ditto), the
little
OHW's like "Somebody's Watching Me", and on and on, radio and the Golden
Age of
MTV. That whole thing was a gas. (Your permission to post out to
