It's quaint, but when I heard of the passing of former President Reagan,
what
really came to my mind and my memories was that he was President in 1984,
when I
first heard and saw Cyndi Lauper. That bright orange-red hair, that
piercing
child-like voice, and the gyrations of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" - it
all got
me blissfully hooked. We could debate his presidency, but Reagan - like
Cyndi -
is one of those 80's icons who defined the decade misfits like me dare to
have
nostalgia for.
