A pleasant surprise is that Cyndi Lauper will headline this year's =
Times Square festivities, singing in the New Year before the famed ball =
drops. It'll be the second time that there'll be live music at Times =
Square for the New Year.

In the heart of Times Square, it was announced that superstar =
Cyndi Lauper will perform at this year=92s Panasonic New Year=92s Eve =
Performance and Sing Along, with selections from her new CD, At Last.
More than 500,000 New Year=92s Eve revelers are expected to join =
her in song as the lyrics are featured on the giant, three stories high =
and four stories wide NBC Astrovision Screen by Panasonic on One Times =
Square, and four other video giant screens in the Times Square area. The =
Panasonic Sing Along was initiated last year and quickly became a New =
Year=92s Eve tradition in Times Square.=20
Cyndi Lauper also joined workers from Landmark Signs on December =
9th as they unveiled the new seven-foot-tall numeral =934=94 that will =
complete the =932-0-0-4=94 sign which will light up as the New Year=92s =
Eve Ball is lowered atop One Times Square. The numeral was placed next =
to the =932-0-0-=93 (to make 2-0-0-4) at the entrance to One Times =
Square. Four men were required to lift each of the giant numerals.=20
