Oh, well, I got a bit I wrote about not quite understanding the
mythology of the Chinese Zodiac printed in the Singa****e tabloid free
paper _Today_ a couple years ago. (They didn't ask me about it, and I
only learned about it by stroke of luck, so I couldn't grab several
dozen copies for myself.)
And it's no Pulitzer, but I am one of the roughly 65 competitors
for the 2008 Robert Benchley Society Humor Prize Competition. I don't
know if we're supposed to tell which essay we wrote (they're made
anonymous on the web site) but ... well, there's a surprising connection
between one of my side jokes and one of the monologue jokes for the
Friday show this week --

Finalists get selected by the 15th and turned over to *the*
Bob Newhart for ranking. I have to admit the thought of Bob Newhart
reading something I wrote with the intention to be funny excites me
in a way ... well, it'd be like having pizza with Rob Smigel and Don
Novello, you know?
