Maybe the writers feel that "production" means "writing a joke or a
gag." Maybe Conan has to make it clearer that just giving him an idea
for a good improv game (e.g., playing with his ring, playing with the
camera guy, or going up into the rafters) also counts as writing.
I think another thing is that the people who write the bits and the
people who play them have to understand what the dark side of the
characters are as well as the funny side.
Give us a little big bigger sprinkling of despair and misery each go
around.
