Did HE actually smoke at all? I know he put them in his mouth.
It seems like when one was lit, it was used to start
the fuse on a canon. The other time it was lit, he gave it to
a dying soldier. Then again, maybe he did smoke that one.
Yeah, he did. The other time it was lit, it was simply laying
in the dust (a butt). Tuco, trailing him, picked it up and took a
couple of hits. I don't recall big Clint actually smoking that one.
I know that they all had to have some cool way of striking
a match, so we see a lot of match striking all the time. Remember
Lee Van Cleef (pipe) striking his match on the hunch of the hunch-back
in "For A Few dollars More?" I hardly remember any actual
smoking. It was just a macho prop thang to have one I guess.
