Fascinating if you haven't read much about gangster pictures. Nothing
really
original in it.
There's something in the human psyche that wants to glorify the outlaw;
something that's probably based on a realization that the respectable
people
in power don't consider your well-being a high priority. A desire to just
do
what you want to do and take what you want to take probably has something
to
do with it, as well.
It has, of course, little bearing in reality. The outlaws don't consider
your well-being a high priority, either. But perhaps the need for this
fantasy says something positive about human nature--that there's a streak
of
rebelliousness in all of us.
