I compensate for you.  I would write the same amount as: 

"one hundred eighty-seven and forty-three one-hundredths."

I started doing that (writing out the "hundredths" part) when I began my
very first checking account back in 1974, and never stopped.

But I don't use any fractions when writing an even dollar amount.  My
monthly rent check (about the only check I write these days) is usually
phrased "exactly four hundred ninety."

Excuse me, no one told me I had to have a point.
