When cable came to my town, it was $12.00 per month 25 years ago
(About $25 per month in today's dollars).  WOW.  All those stations
for only $12.00 per month.

Then, they pulled a Michael Eisner.  The fees increased 3 times faster
than inflation.  I was furious.  We were duped into removing our
antennae and we became dependant on cable.  Most people probably don't
know how to go back to over-the-air.

When the price hit $45 per month for basic cable (no pay services), I
paid someone $450 to put a good UHF antenna on my roof.  I gave
Comcast the boot.  High-definition quality went UP because Comcast was
compressing the data.

I live 48 miles from TV towers.  My picture quality if superb.  I am
an advocate of over-the-air television now.  It's just that most
people don't realize just how easy it is to use an antenna (I
recommend an outdoor antenna).
