I've not seen such commercials.  Or maybe I just suppressed the memories.

I've not seen news stories, either.

What I have seen are PSAs, everywhere and all the time, which have said
just this.

Here, ABC and CBS have the same numbers for cable and over-the-air, so
they just use those numbers.  NBC and WB incor****ate both numbers in
their promos, NBC 7/39 and the new WB 5/69.  But WB has been dropping
the 69 more and more.
