Exasperating Firefox (for Mac) Quirk

by Brettster <brett.bayne@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > May 11, 2008 at 09:53 PM

I am using Firefox v.2.0.0.6 for Macintosh OS v.10.4.11.

Under certain circumstances, it's behaving in a way that's driving me
nuts. Problem is, I can never predict what the circumstances are.

Here's what it's doing. Sometimes, when I have two browser windows
open, I need to move one out of the way, to the other side of the
screen. I'll move my cursor to the grey "window bar" at the top of
browser #1, click and hold, then drag it out of the way. When I find
the right place for it, I'll release the mouse...and the window
automatically snaps back to browser #2, as if by magnetic force,
perfectly overlapping #2 so I can no longer see it.

The problem is, it doesn't happen all the time. It seems to behave
that way in a completely arbitrary manner. It does seem to occur only
when I grab the left-hand side of the window bar, never the right. But
it doesn't ALWAYS happen. I've checked all through the Firefox
preferences, and there doesn't seem to be any box to uncheck that
would alter this behavior.

Won't you shed some light on this for me? Why is this happening, how
can I fix it, and why would anybody would WANT to align windows this
way? Thanks!
