At the other end of the spectrum, I did a video in a McMansion some years
ago and discovered that, in spite of the presence of not one but /two/
200A service panels in the basement, all of the outlets on the first
floor, save the ones in teh kitchen, were on a single 20A breaker.

IANALicensedElectricianNorCanadian, but it is my understanding that
Canada's building code requires some kitchen outlets to have dedicated 20A
circuits for each receptacle, meaning two circuits for a duplex outlet.
