If it's a bathroom circuit there's a good chance
there's a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter)
on the wiring.
So... if there was a bit of an electrical leakage
to ground, that GFCI would "see it" and open up
(shut down) [a] all the wiring passing through it.
The "BOOM" probably isn't the GFCI - they're usually
more of a "click" or even "CLICK", but that could
have been the original electrical issue.
[a] in electrical stuff, an "open" switch
means the wires are pulled apart, and there's
no current going through. This is different
from a water valve/faucet, which when "open"
lets fluid through.
