It will hurt her. The only way she's involved in the 2012 election
is if Obama loses. Otherwise he'll be the Republican nominee in
2012. If Obama loses, people will blame Hillary. 

If she's angling for succeeding Obama in 2016, I'm not sure how her
continuing to fight will help or hurt.

Good question. There's Jeremiah Wright, but McCain is similarly 
vulnerable. Will he really want to go down that road and have us 
decide who is more closely tied to creepy religious people? There's 
Obama's shady real estate deal, or whatever that was. But McCain is a 
big buddy of Charles Keating and I think he's got other skeletons.

McCain will certainly hammer on Obama's lack of experience.

Obama will hammer on McCain's statements at every stage of the Iraq 
war.

McCain will have to decide how much he can safely court the religious 
right. Evangelicals will have to decide whether they're up for 
another round. I'm hoping the answer is no:
