My situation was similar, my manager told me they probably didn't like
me because they were jealous of me, and because they thought I thought
I was better than them. Before I could stop myself I replied, "I am
better than them." I know that sounds incredibly arrogant but they
were so stereotypically "Dumb American." Intolerant, culturally
ignorant, politically indifferent, maxed out on credit card, overly
indulgent with their kids.
